Help Sarah get a Psychiatric Service Dog
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am raising money so I can get a psychiatric service dog. Many psychiatrists have recommended that I get one to improve my quality of life and lessen the suffering I endure due to my mental illnesses. I have multiple diagnoses consisting of Borderline Personality Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Seasonal Affective Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Persistent Depressive Disorder (dysthymia). A psychiatric service dog could help assist me when I am having traumatic flashbacks of past abuse/assault, panic attacks and assist me when I suffer with these things when I am out in public. I love dogs, as most people know and having a companion would really lift my mood. Having a dog would help me leave the house, which I struggle to do now due to my low mood and energy, assist me while I am at school and more. There are many different tasks a psychiatrist service dog can help me with.
Traditional treatments such as therapy and medications have not been consistent in helping me with treating mental illnesses. I am in pain all the time and in so much pain that I consider taking my life at times. I know if I had a dog I would be able to stick around and start enjoying life. This is something that is very important to me. Having a dog would benefit me when it comes to grounding techniques such as petting the dog's fur to ground myself while I am having a PTSD flashback or panic attack. The psychiatric service dog will be trained to tailor to my needs specifically so it can best support me and what I need when I am in crisis
Thank you so very much for coming and reading my story. Even if you can't donate, sharing this GoFundMe with others means the whole world to me. If you choose to donate, thank you so much! Your donation helps get me closer to being able to live a life with less pain and suffering. Even the smallest donations mean so very much to me:)
