My Journey began on Oct. 9th 2014.
I had been experiencing tremendous pain in my lower back and legs. I went to a small town ER, a CT was performed. I was told I had a Tarlov Cyst Located on my L5 S2. I was sent home to contact my Genernal Pactioner.
I walked into my GP office the following day and he had me admitted back to the same hospital, where I remained for 5 days. The local Neuro Surgeon came In to my room, after a MRI was done. Talking on his phone and held his hand up to me, holding his other hand over the phone and informed me the surgery was to high risk for him, due to the risk of paraysis. Then left the room. I was released from the hospital. Upon release I began having trouble with balance, walking long distance, climbing stairs and experiencing bladder issues.
I scheduled an appointment with a local urologist, who determined my problem was due to nerve damage.
I made an appointment in Denton, Texas with The Texas back institute. A PA, not a physician, took a look at the exrays, believed nerve damage was occuring and they showed one of the largest cysts she has seen. The Texas back institute passed me off to 1 of 7 neuro surgeons. I was truly blessed that one of his offices was located in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Frank Feigenbaum. . I went on a waiting list for a consultation. After checking in on a regular basis, I was called due to a cancellations and had a consult scheduled.
I attended that appointment 2 hours from my home with a very dear friend, he confirmed the nerve damage was occurring at a rapid rate. Not only that, but I have an actual count of 3 cysts in the same location. 2 the size of a large egg, I the size of a large yolk. The cysts which is cutting off the flow of my spinal fluid and is also affecting my speech. He told me if I do not have the surgery, I will become paralyzed.
My surgery was scheduled in early March. I was placed back on a waiting list, but placed top priority if someone cancels. I got a call on the 6th of January, that brought me to tears, I have a surgery date January 28th. At Pine Creek Medical Center .The goal set is to help cover the upfront cost of the required deductible, that must be met at the hospital before the surgery. Also allowing a the 4 night stay in a value motel, until I am released to travel back 2 hours safely home.
All this 45 year old woman wants to do, is have a chance to run in the park, once again with the two lights of her life, her two grandsons, Tucker, 4 and Ezra,2
Any amount would be greatly appreciated, as the date is closing in on me.
