Julia Harvey Fundraiser
Hi, my name is Dani Tubman and my dear friend, Julia Harvey, has just been diagnosed with leukemia on Thursday, June 3rd, 2021. Julia is a teacher in the science department at South Eugene High School, where she graduated from high school. Julia was in the Peace Corps in Tonga, where she had her first son, Tame. She eventually returned to Eugene where she was born and raised. Once she was back in Eugene, she had her next son, Wilson, who is graduating from South this year. Julia is also mom to Huxley, who is a 5th grader at Ridgeline Montessori.
Julia is a beloved friend, teacher, talented and passionate ecologist, and dedicated reader (reading up to 52 books per year)! She has bestowed a love of the outdoors and ecology to her sons and to many students and friends. Julia had recently experienced breathing issues and shoulder pain and went to the ER on Thursday, June 3rd during her first period class.
Julia was diagnosed with acute leukemia with a mass in the lung at Riverbend. Julia was transferred from Riverbend to OHSU on Saturday, just one day after being admitted to the ER at Riverbend on Thursday, June 3rd. She is undergoing a bone marrow biopsy tomorrow and will need multiple rounds of platelets. Julia is only permitted to have one visitor during the month-long stay at OHSU so she will not be able to see her sons during that time. During that month-long stay, Julia will be treated with chemotherapeutic drugs.
Julia's medical bills will be a great stress and her prognosis is unknown at this time. Please keep her in your hearts and thoughts. I will be updating Julia's journey as often as I receive information!
Donations will be helping with Julia's medical bills as well as any time Julia will need to be out of work until the end of this school year and next school year.
