Julia Schwope Eagle Project for Frazier Area

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Julia Schwope. I have been in Troop 444, Richardson, Texas since Fall 2020 and have served in many leadership roles including Senior Patrol Leader, QuarterMaster, and Order of the Arrow Representative. I'm also President of Venture Crew 1978, Vice Chief of Inductions for Arapaho Chapter of Order of the Arrow - Boy Scouts of America and Chaplains Aide for Mikanakawa Lodge. Scouts has given me so many mentors and opportunities including staffing ILST, NYLT, NAYLE and high adventure for which I'm forever grateful-- it has shaped my character and I am striving to be one of the first 10,000 women worldwide to become an Eagle.

I am starting to work on my Eagle Project so if you are able to donate any amount and/or volunteer your time it would be greatly appreciated. The project will benefit Frazier Revitalization (www.FrazierDallas.org) located in South Dallas impacting the Bertrand Neighborhood and Frazier Townhomes. I will supervise helpers who will power wash and repaint an interactive sidewalk outside of their center, create a moveable coffee bar, add shade umbrellas to five existing picnic tables, create herb plantings in this food desert, and extend WiFi from the center to their exterior courtyard. This will bring neighbors closer together by providing a common space to gather while providing internet access to youth and adults to ease homework, job searches, and more in this safe space.

My first workday will be on August 1st with various shifts ranging from creating stencils, spray washing the sidewalk, stenciling and then painting the sidewalk, drilling holes in the picnic tables, assembling the umbrellas with weighted stands and the coffee bar and more on multiple dates. All are encouraged to participate. Click the link for more details/the opportunity to sign up to help

I'm trying to raise $2,300 (or offset those expenses with in-kind donations) to make this project successful. Your help is MUCH appreciated in any amount! That amount helps to pay for:
  • Exterior paint for the sidewalk in multiple colors
  • Rental of a spraywasher
  • Drill bit to create the right sized hole in picnic tables to add umbrellas
  • (5) Tan Shade umbrellas
  • (5) Weighted stands for the umbrellas
  • (2) Large pots for herb clippings
  • Gravel for the herb pots
  • Dirt for the herb pots
  • A weather-resistant coffee bar made from a plastic resin with a storage shelf
  • Water, snacks, safety equipment for the work days
  • Materials to create stencils
  • A brass marker noting that this is an Eagle project
  • A WiFi booster to extend into their courtyard

Any funds above and beyond the costs will be donated to Frazier Revitatlization to support this project including possible purchases of an under shelf refrigerator/cooler to use with their coffee bar, Cambros (heat protecting storage containers), and more.

Thank you in advance for helping make this impact to a community in need and providing me this unique leadership opportunity!
