Julie Winkel Flood Recovery

Julie Winkel is a nationally respected hunter jumper trainer, judge, clinician and educator.   She works harder than most anyone and is incredibly generous in helping others.  She is a person of integrity who has volunteered countless hours for the betterment of equestrian sport.

On January 9, 2017, a flood devastated her business, Maplewood Stables.  Thankfully no horses or humans were injured, though one employee endured a perilous ordeal while trying to reach horses during the flood.
According to Julie, the flood resulted in $300,000 in property damage, and although Julie has paid $15,000 each year for the past 30 years for flood insurance, none of the damage is covered.  You can read more in the Chronicle of the Horse and on the Maplewood website.

Here is a video of flood damage:

Julie says she doesn't want charity, and is seeking instead to sell her young horses.  I reached out to Julie and asked if I could create this page for those of us who are not currently in the market for a young horse but would like to donate, and she agreed that I could create and share this page.

Please  consider a donation to help Julie get her business up and running again.
