What Are We Teaching Our Children?

Every day 44,000 people become refugees due to climate change, war, etc. Half are children. Incredibly, many people ignore this! Creating a compassionate point-of-view toward "the other" and stimulating kind actions by children is a clear solution. Our new kids' book, "Immigrant, Refugee, & Stranger -- The Barnyard Buddies Meet a Newcomer," (see other books here http://bit.ly/SmartToolsStore ) inspires kindness toward newcomers, including the new kid in school, as well as immigrants, and refugees. With your help it will reach 3,000 parents, grandparents, and librarians, and promote compassion-smarts for 6,000 kids, our future decision-makers.
Children learn to hold compassion in their hearts as they use critical thinking to understand and determine best action around any issue. Because it uses loveable animals and has an extensive Parent and Educator Guide with activities and discussion questions, children's hearts are touched and the learning is for life.

What are we teaching our children? Whether or not people are warmly welcomed in a new location or maligned and mistreated, fundamentally comes down to the attitude of each individual they encounter. These attitudes are formed as children learn and grow, and become laws when they are decision-makers. Hate and indifference have no place in our complicated world.
