Help Julie get to Fringe!
Donation protected
I have been accepted into both the Pittsburgh and San Diego Fringe Festivals in 2017, so I am opening this campaign back up. Once again, any small amount you can spare to help me achieve my artistic goals is very helpful, and I am so grateful for it.
I am Julie Leir-VanSickle of Creative Moves. For the previous two years, I have taken shows to the Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, where I fell in love with the energy, creativity, and excitement of the Fringe scene. (For those of you who don't know, Fringe Festivals are performing art festivals with a large emphasis on the new, the original, and the different. They are largely uncurated, injuried, and uncensored in order to encourage risk taking and experimentation. They are an accessible way for many artists to share their work.
This year, I set my sights on expanding my horizons, and applied for multiple festivals. In addition to Great Salt Lake, I secured spots in both the Elgin Illinois and Scranton Pennsylvania Fringe Festivals with "Shedding Skin." This gives me the opportunity to share my work with a broader audience than I have access to in Idaho, as well as make connections with other artists, and see other theatre, dance, and performance art from across the country. I find I also come back from the experience even more dedicated to making and sharing art right here in my own backyard.
This is where your help comes in! Although I have been working hard to save and scrounge every penny I can, I could use a bit of help with travel expenses. Train tickets, gas, and food adds up, and so any little bit of assistance I could get would be tremendous! I will be deeply grateful for any support you are willing and able to share with me as I embark on this journey.
