Join with me - working with Orphans, Widows and Lepers in India! Our service team will travel to 4 different areas. Our focus is to work with widows, orphans, lepers and re-connect with India partners. The organization I am going with has several partners in India. They support them through long term relationships and by bringing short term service teams to work alongside them.
Leprosy Outreach
This Outreach Campus ministers to those affected and brings healing and hope. Our liaison said our visit is, “a few minutes for us, but for them it is unspeakable joy - they deserve the best. It is always worthy to visit them.” We will have a special program with the residents in the nursing home.
Widows and Orphans
The second place is in the foothills of the Himalayns and my third time working with these projects. One project is a recently started widow’s outreach. The second is a girl’s orphan home. In 2011, I taught crafts at an orphanage there. Since then, this orphanage closed due to poor management and corruption. Our Partner found a home for some of the girls with a family that oversees their welfare. We will work with both groups to encourage and support them with a girls and ladies' retreat.
Village Ministry
Pastor "Raj" is a young man who grew up in an orphanage, taught himself English, and then the Organization sponsored his education through to M.DIV. When he could’ve gone anywhere to get a high paying job, he returned to his village with a passion towards teaching and literacy. We will visit his village and projects and lead a ladies study.
Bible College
Lastly, we’ll visit The Bible College Graduation ceremony. This center was the first place I visited in India to teach knitting to village women. The Pastor invited us to be a part of this ceremony and to support the graduates. We will be able to give the graduates gifts of supplies along with scholarships for upcoming students. What an honor to be a part of the next generation of leaders.
Your Turn
Would you like to be a part of this project?
The funds raised here go towards transportation, lodging, ministry supplies, scholarships and gifts. My leader encourages me to share the opportunity to be a blessing to others and joining in our service by giving.
The most important thing that I ask from you - is your prayer.
Prayer during the preparations, during this trip and our recovery and the impact afterwards. For example, did you know that the group of women that I taught to knit on my first trip to Goa, still meets together every month to this day? They no longer knit but they still meet to support each other.
This and more, happened because of the support of you and others before you that laid the groundwork in prayer and invested in the work. That is why your prayers are the most important part of this trip. And there are always unexpected things that can happen such as weather, health, change of plans in country and surprise requests from the ministry leaders in India - to name a few. We take everything on this journey in prayer.
Thank you for considering your part in this journey. Any funds raised beyond this goal will go towards additional scholarships and sponsorships.
Solo deo Gloria!
