JULIET - A narrative project

WHAT THE FILM IS ABOUT
Juliet is an episodic journey about a teenager who's run away from an abusive and dysfunctional home life leaving her mother behind. She endures the trials of solitude and struggles with living on the streets of LA and must learn to cope and manage her longing for a loving family…

CONCEPT
What happens when we start to question if anybody loves us? if nobody cares about us? If we don’t communicate with each other, reach out. What does that do to a young child that has run away from home to escape an abusive home and leave her mother behind?

We see the effects of a shattered relationship between a mother and a daughter. Dive deep into the unexplored life of runaway and abandoned children and teens on the streets, and see the relationships they build with the life they were thrust into. The struggles they face as humanity moves around them without acknowledgment, merely passing them by. What do relationships, survival, and death look like to these passionate yet broken and vulnerable people? And will it matter to the rest of society?

The concept/idea came from my feelings of how we as a society ignore the people suffering around us, on the streets or in bad situations. We just move on with our lives in such a way that we have lost our humanity, to let each other know that somebody out there in this chaotic world loves them. We think too much and feel too little. At its core, Juliet comes from a place of love and compassion. It’s about wanting to capture a way of life, a way of people that we see so little of but can impact us emotionally and affect our viewpoint and actions towards the world around us.

From The Team

Writer and Director, Tyler Del Cont
As a writer and director from Los Angeles, CA, Tyler believes strongly that we must strive to tell stories from an emotional impact, to capture a feeling of people, and depict a way of life. He's a lover of cinema and wants to uphold and tell stories that challenge us with thought and leave us thinking about our own lives. He first started working on professional music videos and film sets in late 2016, when he met by chance at a local eatery a Practical Special Effects Coordinator named Rudy R. Perez who had been in the industry for 30-plus years and would become his mentor, teaching him about special effects, and pyro work, also about the industry itself. Producers, Terry Kim and Ian Knepher

Terry Kim
Running through the motions of getting ready to shoot a scene is cathartic, but more than anything, the scene represents what Terry loves most about film. How it consistently challenges and excites him to create and record stories that inspire a sense of wonder. That excites and challenges to create experiences that spark a person's passion for creating and learning. To bring a dream to fruition and to inspire futures and endless possibilities. Whenever you see a film it leaves an impression. Whether it be emotionally provoking, thought-inducing, or even just an escape from reality for an instant. It can be a motivator for change within our communities or even larger scale. Film is a medium that impacts our lives in countless ways. The art of cinema challenges us in all aspects of life.

Ian Knepher
Filmmaking and cinema have always been about community. We as creators are always connecting with others; sharing stories, building relationships, and supporting those around us. Hearing perspectives, bouncing ideas and growing concepts together is what creates a medium that has so much meaning. Filmmakers bring themselves into the screen. Ian has a passion and desire for every voice and every idea to be able to be seen and heard in the way the creator intended. His goal is to bring the stories within us and around us to life. We are all individuals with our own life stories and unique perspectives and experiences. Everyone has a perspective that deserves to be shared.

We would like to invite you to join us in the creation of this beautiful story taking inspiration from documentary-style film Streetwise and thematic elements that derive from The Seventh Seal and La Strada.
