Juneteenth Fundraiser: Educating Black Youth
Tax deductible
My daughter, Aroa, was really inspired to take action after hearing the tragic story of George Floyd. In celebration of his life and in honor of Juneteenth, she would like to raise money for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), an organization that provides scholarships for college for African American youth.
About Aroa:
Aroa is an eight year old, biracial (black/white), multicultural (American/Spanish), aspiring engineer, scientist, artist, and gardener. She speaks three languages (English, French, & Spanish) and is a great big sister, niece, and granddaughter, as well as, an advocate for equality for all.
About UNCF:
Since UNCF was founded in 1944, opportunities for African American and other minority youths have increased dramatically. But the national need for minority education has proven as timeless as UNCF's motto, "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" Far too many African American and other minority students still lack the financial and other support or the rigorous pre-college education they need to gain admission to and succeed in college. It is to the success, in school and beyond, of these young men and women that UNCF is dedicated, as much today as it was when it was founded.
