Juneteenth Fundraiser To Free Black People

Tax deductible

This is a fundraiser for Free The 350 Bail Fund

Juneteenth celebrates the day when free Black people in Texas learned about the end of slavery in the United States, two years after the emancipation proclamation.

Although chattel slavery has been abolished for over 158 years, we understand that more modern modes of enslavement have persisted up into our modern era, scribed in the constitution via the thirteenth amendment and playing out through social relations in the Jim Crow south and also via the modern day criminal injustice system and systemic racism.

TODAY there are 65 Black people caged in Dane County jail in Madison WI only because of unpaid bail -- including 2 women, and 6 CHILDREN! They range in age from 16 to 63 years old.

Half have bail of $10,000 or less. $150,000 would free 32 people!

On average they have been in jail 5 months -- but several have been locked up longer than a year!

Free The 350 Bail Fund is raising money to free people from the modern day slavery system that is the racist incarceration system. Help us free folks this Juneteenth by contributing to the movement for freedom from slavery. If you can't afford to, it would be invaluable if you could give this fundraiser a share and together we will #FreeThemAll!!

My name is Liam Manjon and I helped start Free The 350 Bail Fund in Madison WI in 2017 along with several other great organizations who are invested in prison abolition work. I currently am one of the lead organizers for fundraising and finances for the Bail Fund. Every cent of the money raised in this fundraiser will go to pay the bail of Black people who are locked up in the Dane County Jail simply because they can't afford to pay bail themselves. We are a grassroots organization and all our members are volunteers and don't get paid for their work so exactly zero dollars will go towards administrative costs. I am one of the people in charge of the bail fund's bank account, so I will be able to withdraw these funds directly in to the bail fund's bank account.
