Junior Velez

Today we lost a kindred spirit. Someone who was always there to make you laugh. His name was Dulcilio Velez but his friends and Kroger family knew him as Junior. You have to know something about Junior. Once you were Juniors friend you had a good friend for life. He was never going to let you down.

Junior started out his life in the Chicago area and then moved to Puerto Rico in 1990 where he met his beautiful wife, Sheila. A few years later Sheila gave birth to a little boy named Derek. He was Juniors world. The desire to better Derek's life led them to Harrisonburg, VA in 2017. Recently, in August, Junior was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. A surprise to everyone with Junior having never smoked in his life. He started chemotherapy to stop the spread of the cancer. He fought hard through his first batch of treatments and stayed strong for his family. But in a shocking turn of events his body gave out on him and Junior suddenly passed away today, September 23, 2023. We're asking everyone in the Kroger family, those that know Junior and Sheila and even those that hear their story and want to help to please give what they can to help Sheila financially during this hard time. We appreciate your help in alleviating the stress of financial burden so that her and her family can focus on healing during this time.
