Juni’s Medical Journey
Donation protected
Hi family & friends,
Most of you know that Juniper has had quite the medical journey. She was born at 3lbs 13oz with a condition called imperforate anus (born without an anus). She was given a colostomy at a day old which she had for 11 months. Surgeons performed a posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSAR) creating an anus at 7 months old. We were told that she would have a normal life and that her case was “resolved”.
After joining several groups for parents of IA kids and potty training challenges, we’ve learned that her case is not resolved and the path ahead isn’t a normal one. Juniper’s urologist recommended a visit to Dr. Marc Levitt with Children’s National hospital is Washington D.C. This is the closest hospital with a colorectal program and with specialists in her condition.
We have appointments March 18th - March 25th. These appointments involve tests and visits with specialists, as well as surgeries (a redo PSAR surgery and a procedure called a Malone). The goal of these visits are to help Juniper become accident free as she starts going to school and growing up.
The money raised will go toward gas, food, and to make up for lost income during my time off of work that my PTO may not cover (I’m also applying for FMLA). We thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this time!
