Supporting Ron Holt: A Musical Hero’s Fight Against Cancer

Dear friends and fellow music enthusiasts,

My name is Jesse Holt, and I’m reaching out to you today with a plea for help. My big brother, Ron Holt (also known as Junkeye), is currently facing a formidable challenge: he’s fighting cancer.

Ron’s impact on the Seattle music scene cannot be overstated. His contributions have been integral to the early beginnings of many iconic Seattle bands, including The Bondage Boys, Faster Pussycat, Alice In Chains, Suicide Bride, My Sister’s Machine, and Second Coming. Despite being overlooked by the industry, Ron’s musical genius has left an indelible mark on our city’s artistic landscape. Musicians who surrounded him recognize him as a major creative and musical inspiration, and I count myself among them.

Now, Ron needs our collective support.

He is battling esophageal cancer, which has unfortunately spread to his liver. Without health insurance, he relies on the limited healthcare provided by Medicaid. To alleviate some of the burden, I’ve initiated a GoFundMe campaign. Our goal is twofold: first, to ensure Ron has a roof over his head; second, to cover essential expenses such as medications, transportation to medical centers, high-quality food, apartment upkeep, and crucial in-home visits. Most importantly, we want to ease his stress by alleviating financial worries.

As Ron faces this challenging battle, I am committed to standing by his side just as I know he would for me. While I can do a lot, I recognize that I can’t do it alone. That’s why I’m reaching out to his friends, my friends, and the greater Seattle music community, asking for their support during this critical time.
