Just Beginning-The New Musical, Indy, June 2024

What is it?

"Just Beginning," is my freshly-composed musical that is the passion-project of a lifetime, and is about to make a big splash in Indy! It tells the incredible true stories of the French women exiles, who became the founding mothers of America.

"Love that outlasts evil, strength that defies innumerable odds, women who re-build when their lives are ruined, and ladies who aren't afraid to "burn things down...to clear the way."

How did this all start?

Last spring, a bizarre fact showed up on facebook, that got my mind absolutely churning. As a result, my curiousity lead me to study the stories of 150 French women who were falsely imprisoned, forced onto slave ships, and deported to New Orleans in 1719 in order to populate the "new world."

The more I read, the more the floor dropped away: and I knew without the slightest doubt, that their stories needed to be told and it was my mission to do so on the stage. After spending months digging through 300-year-old historical records, I became more sure than ever that this story belongs in our modern hearts. I decided to dedicate my everything to the purpose and focus of writing/composing this story, and bringing their once-forgotten tales to the stage. These are women we should know today! Though centuries away, I felt their stories calling to me, and demanding to be harkened, grieved, celebrated, and cherished.

This financial campaign raises the funds to pay for the rental of the theater $12K, and helps us market this new musical well. My end-goal is that after our premiering Indy run, we will have the momentum, fans, and backing to take this show on the road, particularly to its home town of New Orleans and Mobile, truly paying hommage to the women who have landed us here!
