"Just Friends" - Season 1 Post-Production

"Just Friends" is a 6-episode Boy Love web-series based on a short film of the same name. In the short film, we are introduced to Riley and Skye, two friends with a palpable sexual tension who struggle to define their relationship. While the series is an adaptation of the short film, it is not a sequel. The series explores the moments in Riley and Skye's relationship just before their true feelings for one another begin to show.

JUST FRIENDS: THE SHORT FILM

For Writer/Director Adante Watts, "Just Friends" started as an exercise in directing on-screen sexual tension in a low-stakes environment. Being pleased with the final product, he decided to post the scene to YouTube. Akin to his previous viral short film, "Read Between the Lines", "Just Friends" took off in a way that couldn't have been predicted. Since it was posted a few months ago, the video has gained over 1,000,000 views!

With many people demanding an extension/continuation of Riley and Skye's story, Adante wrote a 6-episode web-series based on the short film.

JUST FRIENDS: THE SERIES - EPISODE 1

Not too soon after the success of the short, we shot and released the first episode of the series. In just a few months, Episode 1 has gained over 500,000 views! With many people excited to see where the series goes from here.

JUST FRIENDS: THE SERIES - EPISODE 2

Thanks to the support and donations received on this campaign, we were able to shoot and release Episode 2 of the series! We're glad to see the positive reception of the new episode, but Riley and Skye's journey is only beginning...

WHERE DO YOU COME IN?

The unfortunate truth is, producing content, especially long-form content like a web-series, costs money. This was only made more difficult by the simultaneous WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Many of our cast and crew are still not currently working as the industry slowly gets back up and running, which makes their ability to devote their free time to working on a project like this harder.

The money we raise through this crowdfunding campaign will help cover the following post-production costs:

Riley has a bad dream. Skye reconnects with an old flame and gains information on a new one.

EPISODE 4 - "Lying On the Moon"

Riley and Tony spend the day together and reminisce on their past. Skye's friend concocts a plan to help Skye in the romance department.

EPISODE 5 - "Play No Games"

Riley, Skye and Tony are invited to a game night. Skye makes a confession.

EPISODE 6 - "(More Than) Just Friends"

While on a mini road trip to Blue Ridge, Riley and Skye are forced to confront the changes in their friendship.
