Justice for Kambili: Survivor of Domestic Abuse

Donation protected
I've had the privilege of knowing Kambili for over five years. Due to the nature of her story, details are being intentionally left out to maintain her privacy. Her ex-partner is an extremely dangerous and abusive man.

Kamibili's journey is one of courage and survival. Escaping a life of relentless physical, financial, and psychological abuse, she fled her home in Africa with the assistance of the US embassy. This came after several failed attempts at escaping him on her own. In her quest for safety and a new beginning, she found herself in the US, where she began to rebuild her life alongside her two young sons.

Tragically, the legal system failed her as it too often happens to women experiencing Intimate Partner Violence. Her abusive ex-spouse managed to manipulate the court system, fraudulently securing custody of their children just six months after her escape. While Kambili was laying the foundations of a new life, he tracked them down. Devastatingly, she was ordered to relinquish custody of her traumatized children to their abuser.

Refusing to give up, Kambili took the advice to run and sought asylum in Canada. However Canadian border services handed her children over to her abuser, their father. Since 2018, she has fought relentlessly through the legal maze.

Today, Kambili has "Protected Person" status in Canada. She is incredibly hard-working and through hopelessness and despair having her children ripped away from her, she has managed to maintain numerous jobs and been a contributing member to Canadian society.

Her life remains at risk should she return to her home country. She has not seen her beloved children for all these years. Meanwhile, her ex-spouse, undeterred by legal setbacks, continues to perpetrate his abuse, employing manipulative tactics to keep her from her children.

The Fight Ahead:
To re-establish her rightful place in her children's lives, we are reaching out for support. Authorities in the US, Canada and Africa have generously lent their assistance to Kambili's cause. Yet, the looming threat of her ex-spouse's potential success in the US legal system hangs heavy over this battle. If he prevails, Kambili's journey to reunite with her children will become significantly more challenging, prompting her to question whether the five-year-long struggle is worth continuing.

I promise you this: if you were to meet Kambili yourself and hear the actual details of the story, you would likely not hesitate to help out. If I could safely share more details I would, but I must protect her. I have known hundreds of women who have been through Domestic Violence. What Kambili has been through is unimaginable. The failures of the systems that surround us have been devastating.

Call to Action:
We are humbly requesting your financial support to bolster Kambili's legal fight against her abuser. Your contributions will empower her with the resources necessary to navigate the legal complexities on her path to reuniting with her children. The road ahead is fraught with obstacles. Her ex, the father, has recently proclaimed on a video call in front of his children that he will take further steps to make sure she no longer has access to her children even by phone. Her eldest son has opened up about experiencing abuse at the hands of his father. Her children desperately want to be with their mother and are terrified at the thought of being cut off from her. Your generosity will not only aid her in securing justice but will also send a resounding message that individuals united against abuse can make a profound difference.

Let's rally together to restore a mother's right to be with her children, to provide solace after years of torment, and to proclaim that love can triumph over manipulation and cruelty. Your donation will not only offer a lifeline to Kambili but will also be a beacon of hope for countless others who face similar battles. Join us in writing the next chapter of Kambili's story, one filled with resilience, healing, and the love that binds a mother to her children.

All funds will go DIRECTLY to Kambili.
