Justice 4 Mario & Family
Donation protected
Thank you to everyone who has supported our family after Mario Gonzalez was taken from us. Our beloved Mario was killed by the Alameda Police Department on April 19th, 2021. Alameda Police had no reason to detain Mario, yet they piled on top of him killing him right there in the park.
Mario was the principal caretaker for our brother Efrain who has autism. He had his whole life ahead of him and they robbed him from his family and community. We have been left devastated and heartbroken.
We are so grateful for the community who came together to help us provide for funeral services, a college fund for Mario’s son, initial arrangements for Efrain’s care, and some support living costs for both the mother of Mario’s son and for our family.
We are raising funds for long term care for Efrain. Efrain has always needed an in home care taker, while my mother works, but we see the impact that Mario’s death has had on him. Efrain receives some home health care hours from the state, but those hours are limited to 40 a month. Efrain has a wonderful relationship with his home healthcare worker and we want to be able to provide him with more hours so that he can not just survive but flourish.
We also want to raise funds so that we can continue fighting for justice. My mother works full time and I am a full time student. We support ourselves but money is tight for the event planning, travel, and materials for fighting for sustaining a long term campaign for justice.
Thank you for all of your support and encouragement.
