Justice for an Abused Nephew: Legal Help Needed

MY NEPHEW NEEDS JUSTICE!!! This will be long but please take the time to read it.

My sister and her ex had shared custody of my 8-year-old nephew. A little over a month ago, he dropped him off to his mom, and within minutes she was on the phone crying hysterically to me.

My nephew had been abused. From his lower back to the back of his legs were black and blue. The father informed my sister that he spanked him for lying to him and also for playing with a toy like a “penis.”

She immediately called the police. They came and took a statement, talked to my nephew, and filed a report.

The next day, my sister filed for a protection order, which was granted.

CPS came and did an interview.

A week or so later, they arrested him. Not on child abuse but domestic violence causing harm to an individual.

They went to court about the protection order.

They went to court Monday for the charges. My 8-year-old nephew had to be there to testify. After they talked with him, Dad’s attorney got it continued until after the next protection order court because he is sure they will drop it and give him full custody of the child.

My sister has no attorney. She can't afford one, and legal aid isn't an option because they are too backed up.

How in his sick mind does he think, because his family has money and is backing him, he deserves this beautiful little boy? I have pictures of the abuse but can't post them here.

My nephew is scared to go to school, go outside to play; he thinks his dad will come get him and take him away and hurt him again.

How is this justice for him? Dragging this out. There is absolutely NO excuse for what he did to him. And the sad thing is that nobody cares... not CPS, not the court. This baby needs justice. No child should ever have to go through this and live in fear that it will happen again.
