JUSTICE FOR ANDREA CALI

This is Andrea Cali, you guys may not know her but I’m going to try to do my best to capture how great of a person she is in words. She is a daughter, a sister, and a friend. Many who know her can say that she is a good human being and would never do what she has been accused of doing. She is a professional nurse and has been working for the IESS HOSPITAL in Duran, Ecuador for approximately 3 years. During this pandemic, she has put her life at risk, working day and night to help her community and even contracted the virus. Amid all the hardship, the virus didn’t stop her from returning to her job to continue to serve the people. Andrea, along with other co-workers, were arrested for allegedly corroborating in theft by claiming to have bought medical supplies at a higher price than the actual cost and in turn getting more federal funds. This is not the doing of people like Andrea. I can’t speak for all but I will speak for Andrea who was essentially used as a pawn. This is the doing of something bigger: higher-ups who were explicitly involved in this corruption. Andrea is being falsely accused of stealing public money for her own gain yet she is in prison with real criminals meanwhile, there are others under house arrest. There is no evidence that can prove Andrea has profited off of this scam. Justice needs to be served. Please help us raise funds for her and her family who are now having to go through the expenses of proving her innocence. Help me help someone who wouldn’t think twice about lending a hand.

Esta es Andrea Cali, ustedes tal vez no la conocen, pero voy a tratar de hacer mi mejor esfuerzo para capturar cuán buena persona es en palabras. Ella es una hija, una hermana y una amiga. Muchos que la conocen pueden decir que es un buen ser humano y que nunca harían lo que se le acusa. Es enfermera profesional y ha trabajado para el IESS HOSPITAL en Duran, Ecuador, durante aproximadamente 3 años. Durante esta pandemia, arriesgó su vida trabajando día y noche para ayudar a su comunidad e incluso contrajo el virus. En medio de todas las dificultades, el virus no le impidió regresar a su trabajo para continuar sirviendo a la gente. Andrea, junto con otros compañeros de trabajo, fueron arrestados por presuntamente corroborar el robo alegando haber comprado suministros médicos a un precio más alto que el costo real y, a su vez, obtener más fondos federales. Esto no es cosa de personas como Andrea. No puedo hablar por todos, pero hablaré por Andrea, que fue utilizada esencialmente como un peón. Esto es de algo más grande: altos mandos que estuvieron explícitamente involucrados en esta corrupción. Andrea está siendo acusada falsamente de robar dinero público para su propio beneficio, pero mientras tanto está en prisión con verdaderos delincuentes, mientras que hay otros bajo arresto domiciliario. No hay evidencia que pueda probar que Andrea se haya beneficiado de esta estafa. La justicia necesita ser servida. Ayúdenos a recaudar fondos para ella y su familia, que ahora tienen que pasar por los gastos de demostrar su inocencia. Ayúdame a ayudar a alguien que no lo pensaría dos veces antes de echar una mano.
