Justice for Bleu: Therapy Dog's Story
Donation protected
Hi, I’m Tierra and I’m the mother of Bleu. Bleu was a perfectly healthy dog that we believe is a victim of vaccine injury and medical neglect. He was a therapy dog as well for my family as a whole, including 3 children with ASD. We are a family of 8 (7 children and myself). Bleu has been a complete blessing to have and was well trained to be around kids and other pets without any aggression. He was a baby 8 months old. He went to the vet for a routine visit. He was a bit under the weather as we all had just got over a stomach bug so the doc didn’t want to give him any vaccines, however, he did give him 2 injections in which my puppy immediately became lethargic, stopped eating, drinking, pooping, and urinating. I was also told to give him Famotidine 20mg twice a day. That was given for nausea because the doc said that he had an upset stomach because again as I said before he was a bit under the weather. After the injection he advised me to make sure that he eats twice a day even if it’s bread, cheese or even a McDonald’s cheeseburger (Bleu was on a strict, healthy diet so cheeseburgers aren’t included in his diet) and to come back in a week. As we were departing the office for me to pay for the visit, another doctor was talking to the receptionist. I asked what’s the cost and paid and then the other doctor that was standing there began reiterating how I needed to give him the Famotidine every 12 hours and showed me which bottle to get online. Then goes to say that she she has 90 pit bulls in her shelter and she don’t want no more and that they need to stop being breeded because they’re not getting bred correctly and that they have a shorter life span. If she would’ve said that initially we would’ve walked out of the office because clearly she’s tired of them as a breed and I wouldn’t allow anyone to give my dog anything that spoke like that about him. So desperate to get him nursed back to health I gave him his first dose of Prilosec (Famotidine) I noticed his stomach gurgling and him burping up something but catching it and swallowing it. He was trying to drink but would go to the back door right after to vomit every single time. This was Saturday 2/01/25. After 12 hours Bleu was having difficulty standing up as he was too weak to walk. After about four hours of Bleu sleeping I woke him up because I was worried and I notice that He had some twitching in his legs and face and began shaking his head left to right as if his head was shivering. So I called the vet to report that he hasn’t been the same and they were closed because it was Sunday. I then called the Vet Emergency Hospital which was an hour away and they told me to bring him in for an exam it’ll cost $210, X-rays starting at $600, and if he needed surgery for anything it would be $4k and 70% of the payment was due and the remaining when I picked him up as this would’ve been a life saving surgery if he had needed it which he most likely would’ve due to him vomiting brown poop smelling stuff. Me being afraid that he’d die from sepsis because the fluids he was throwing up smelled like poop. I tried applying to care credit and wasn’t approved. So I asked my son as he was at work and he said that he’d apply for it because he would’ve been approved certainly but he didn’t get off of work in time before Bleu passed. Completely heartbroken we are as I feel like I lost a child. I will do anything for him this is why I’m setting up this gofund me. I finally got ahold of the doctor himself on the phone to report that Bleu’s health had been declining severely since those two injections and he passed away. He coldly said that he’s sorry. I then asked him why did that happen and that Bleu was also twitching and not eating, drinking, pooping, urinating and he then said that he could’ve had a stroke. Even though that may have been the case due to sepsis. We will find out after the necropsy. My point is he showed no sign of empathy and when I inquired about autopsy and cremation he stated that he’d do it if I bring him in for $150 and to cremate with ashes $250. Since I did not trust him to take care of that service for me or any services with such lack of empathy and not knowing if I’d even get Bleu’s ashes back. I called the ASPCA to have Bleu cremated. I paid for the cremation and spent 30 mins with him before they put him in the freezer. I still wasn’t feeling good about that decision as I need closure to get past my grief and I need to know how my dog died because I believe it was the injection given to him because he died 12 hours later. So I called ASPCA and ask them to put a hold on Bleu’s cremation and that I have someone to pick him up to take him for an necropsy/autopsy because I need to know how he died. He was picked up today around 1 pm and is enroute hours to get his necropsy performed out of state because that’s how the law here is set up. I do not have puppy insurance so everything medical with him I have to pay out of pocket like alot of people do with dogs. My states law view dogs as property so there’s really not much assistance for them and if it is I haven’t ran across one in my extensive research to saving Bleu. So I listed this fundraiser as an emergency because the autopsy is very time sensitive about 3 days after the pick up it and papers signed the necropsy should be done. I’ve already paid the ASPCA for the cremation (earlier I mentioned that I put his body on hold at the ASPCA to have the necropsy/autopsy performed first.) so that part is already taken care of. Also, once the toxicology report is back and it confirms that the injection initiated his death I’d like to obtain a veterinary lawyer in which I’ve found today but haven’t secured her just yet for medical neglect because he never took Bleu’s vitals which to me is odd because this was his first visit with this vet and he administered an injection that made his health decline immediately. The veterinary lawyer quoted between $7,500-$10,000. I’m appreciative of whatever I receive. Also, if there’s any monies left over from this fundraiser it will be dispersed to several charities not limited to the ASPCA, pet sanctuaries, and charities. I pretty much need help getting Justice for Bleu because he deserves it and so does our family. Thank you for reading. Warmly
