Justice for Corey Lee Yarbrough

My name is Sarah Minor. I have never asked for help before but if anyone would like to help me get justice for my brother, it will be very much appreciated.

My brother, Corey Lee Yarbrough, was an incarcerated citizen at Elmore Correctional Facility in Alabama. Corey was assaulted numerous times at Elmore. I sent numerous emails to Governor Kay Ivey, the ADOC Commissioners and many state officials begging and pleading for help for my brother’s safety and letting them know what was going on with my brother. My communications fell on deaf ears. Attached are screenshots of portions of my emails.

On Friday, January 26, Corey was transferred from Elmore to Bullock. Corey called me for the last time around 10:00 pm to let me know where he was transferred to. At approximately 1:30 am Saturday morning I was awakened by the phone ringing and it was the call I had feared would come from the Bullock Chaplan telling me Corey had passed. No other details were given.

Any donations received will be used to get my brother home as well as atty/legal fees to find out the truth about my brother’s passing and hopefully help other incarcerated citizens. Corey nor anyone else deserved the violence that is being allowed to happen to our loved ones. My brother is free from the prison walls and the monsters that tormented him. Corey is no longer living in fear and is no longer in pain. He is forever healed. How many other families will have to lose their loved ones before the State of Alabama cleans up its prison system. Prayers for me and Corey’s family are deeply appreciated.
