Help End the Big Lie and Bring Justice for Eric Coomer
Eric Coomer’s lawsuits are a key source of the facts and video testimonies used by News Sources, Congress, and the Justice Department to help expose the falsities and potential criminal activity driving the Big Lie (see detailed list further below.) Your donation will help Eric pay for the mounting legal fees in his defamation cases against a growing list of defendants, including the Trump Campaign, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, One America News Network (OAN), right-wing talk radio stations, traveling election fraud conspiracy tours, and others.
These Big Lie promoters claimed, with zero evidence, that Eric participated in an Antifa conference call and bragged that he had fixed the election. Defendants have admitted, under oath, that there is no audio or video recording of the alleged conference call. Eric was never on an Antifa call. Eric did not fix the 2020 election, nor did he brag that he fixed the 2020 election.
Synopsis (i.e. tl;dr)
1. The accusations that Eric orchestrated, or participated, in any type of election fraud are demonstrably false.
2. Eric's lawsuits are separate from the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuits against similar defendants.
3. Eric's lawsuits are about exposing the truth and holding the defendants responsible for their reckless accusation.
4. Defamation law is complex and differs from state to state. There are many legal hurdles that Eric will need to clear to see justice. Consider how long it took civil litigation to hold Alex Jones to some level of accountability.
5. Eric's defamation lawsuit is filed in Denver, Colorado which has limits on defamation awards. Everything is relative, but even if the lawsuit is successful, after fees, expenses, and taxes, Eric will not see a substantial boon. If his lawsuit fails, he will most likely be bankrupt.
The primary attorneys working on Eric's lawsuit are paid based on a contingent fee agreement (their pay comes from a cut of any award/settlement). Eric is responsible for the lawsuit expenses regardless of the court ruling. The expenses for the first 11 months are already $350,000. The expenses to prepare the case will almost certainly exceed $1 million.
Your donation will help cover the legal fees that Eric is personally responsible for paying. These fees cover all the expenses necessary to sustain the case. The case expenses include expert witnesses in journalism ethics, election security, data analysis for the spread of defamatory publications, damage analysis, court reporters, videographers, travel, graphics, additional counsel, security, etc.
The Long and Growing Details
This fundraiser is organized by The Coomer Family (Eric's parents, siblings, and extended relatives). We created this fundraiser knowing that it will most likely increase the harassment and death threats Eric, and we, have received for the past year.
Eric's father is a West Point graduate and decorated Vietnam Veteran (Silver and Bronze Stars) who spent his career in service to the United States. Eric's mother is first and foremost an Army Wife. Eric and his siblings grew up moving from base to base, and we will always identify as a military family above all else. There is not a single one of us, Eric included, that wants anything other than a republic of the people, by the people, and for the people. The implication, and fundamentally anti-American nature, of these false accusations, cut deep into our family's shared core values.
Eric is the former Director of Strategy and Security for Dominion Voting Systems. In the aftermath of the 2020 election, right-wing political operatives across the country made him the face of baseless voting machine conspiracy theories. Big Lie promoters such as The Trump Campaign, Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and One America News Network (OAN) claimed that Eric had participated in an “Antifa conference call” where he supposedly bragged that he had rigged the election. These absurd claims are entirely false and have completely upended Eric’s life. He was forced to abandon a distinguished career in election security and has endured countless death threats and bizarre accusations. Eric is fighting back, and to date, his various lawsuits against the most egregious promoters of the Big Lie have produced bombshell evidence exposing the plot to overthrow American democracy.
Real Evidence that Exposes the Big Lie
Eric’s lawsuits remain in their early stages, but through limited document disclosures and depositions of many of the defendants, these lawsuits have already revealed stunning details about the Big Lie and those behind it. Below is a brief sampling of some of the discoveries and revelations that his lawsuits have brought to national attention, or significantly contributed to.
1. The Trump Campaign produced an internal memo in November 2020, where it acknowledged the claims about Dominion Voting Systems and Dr. Coomer were false. See Alan Feuer, Trump Campaign Knew Lawyers’ Voting Machine Claims Were Baseless, Memo Shows, NEW YORK TIMES, Sept. 21, 2021, https://www.nytimes.com/2021/09/21/us/politics/trump-dominion-voting.html
2. Rudy Giuliani admitted that he got some of his election fraud “evidence” from social media. See Alia Shoaib, Rudy Giuliani admits under oath that he got some of his ‘evidence’ of alleged election fraud from social media, BUSINESS INSIDER, Oct. 2, 2021, https://www.businessinsider.com/rudy-guiliani-says-he-got-election-fraud-evidence-from-facebook-2021-10
3. Rudy Giuliani had editorial control over election fraud coverage by right-wing conspiracy channel One America News Network (OANN). See Ken Meyer, Giuliani Admits Trump Campaign Had Editorial Control Over OAN Reporter, MEDIAITE, Oct. 5, 2021, https://www.mediaite.com/print/giuliani-admits-trump-campaign-had-complete-editorial-control-over-oan-reporter/
4. Sidney Powell’s election fraud “non-profit” Defending the Republic denied having any knowledge of where all money Powell raised in November 2020, ended up. See Emma Brown, et. al., Sidney Powell group raised more than $14 million spreading election falsehoods, WASHINGTON POST, Dec. 6, 2021, https://www.washingtonpost.com/investigations/sidney-powell-defending-republic-donations/2021/12/06/61bdb004-53ef-11ec-8769-2f4ecdf7a2ad_story.html
5. Colorado’s current GOP chair used to lead an election fraud conspiracy group with an active militia wing. See Alex Burness, Election denialism and far-right activism sit firmly within the Colorado GOP, THE DENVER POST, Dec. 11, 2021, https://www.denverpost.com/2021/12/11/colorad-gop-burton-brown-elections/
6. Right-wing news outlet Newsmax settled with Dr. Coomer, admitted the claims against him were baseless, and apologized for the harm they had caused. See Amy B. Wang, Newsmax apologizes to Dominion employee for falsely alleging he manipulated votes against Trump, WASHINGTON POST, May 1, 2021, https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/05/01/newsmax-apologizes-dominion-employee-falsely-alleging-he-manipulated-vote-against-trump/
These are just some of the revelations to come from just one of Eric’s three pending lawsuits, but they have come at a significant price. The costs associated with travel, depositions, transcripts, expert witness testimony, and all of the other requirements of prolonged, complex litigation are steep.
For Eric to continue his fight to expose the truth, he needs your help. Please consider a donation to help continue the fight.
