Justice for Gabriel Cuen Buitimea And Support for His Family
Donation protected
On January 30th, 2023, Gabriel Cuen Buitimea was walking peacefully with another migrant through a ranch outside of Nogales, Arizona when a retiree with vigilante fantasies opened fire on him. Gabriel was struck in the back and killed. In a recording later that day, the retiree referred to Gabriel several times as “an animal.” The murder trial ended in a hung jury, and today the murderer walks free.
Gabriel, who was a native of Sonora of indigenous Mayo ancestry, frequently crossed into the United States to work as a laborer. He was a father to eight children, and a grandfather to six. He also supported his aging mother. His family has been devastated by grief and by financial need. They will use your donations to buy food, medicine, and other basic goods. Funds will be collected and distributed by members of the Border Patrol Victim’s Network.
