Justice For Jaylin McKenzie
Donation protected
We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the loss of our quiet, loving and charismatic son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Jaylin McKenzie. He was a 20-year-old Atlanta Native Killed During A Memphis Police Traffic Stop while visiting family on December 16, 2022. Jaylin was riding in a white Infiniti with 3 other young black passengers.
The only information the Tennesee Bureau of Investigations and the Memphis Police Department will tell us is that "it's under investigation". Everything we have learned about Jaylin's tragic death has come from media outlets. We do not know why the police thought the car was suspicious, or why they decided to pull the car over. And, we don't know how many times or where on his body Jaylin was shot. We were denied access to identify Jaylin's body in Memphis. Jaylin was not identified until he was brought back to Atlanta. We have submitted two Open Records requests to get body-cam footage but never received a response. Our attorney's office requested the autopsy, body-cam, dash-cam, sky-cam, city streets camera footage, and the names of all officers involved at the traffic stop/crime scene. This request was also denied. We have not been told if the officer(s) involved are on administrative leave or not.
We put our trust in the justice system and felt confident that Memphis, TN officials would do the right thing. However, it’s been over three months and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Memphis Police Department along with the City of Memphis have been very hush-hush on what happened that night that took our loved one. We have been forced to seek counsel to get the answers we need and deserve. We are asking for assistance to ease the burden of legal fees, the cost of a private investigator, as well as traveling expenses to and from Memphis. We will not rest until Justice for Jaylin is served!
Please donate, share and continue to pray for Jaylin's family, and for peace that surpasses all understanding as we navigate through this devastating and most difficult time in our lives. #justiceforjaylinmckenzie
