Help get Justice for Jeremy after a failed Medical & Legal System
Dear Friends, Family, and kind Strangers,
Imagine trusting a healthcare professional with your life, only to have that trust shattered by negligence. This is the heartbreaking reality for Jeremy Veran, a beloved young man, friend, son, grandson, nephew, cousin and citizen of Atikokan, Ontario. His life changed forever, due to a devastating and heart-wrenching medical misdiagnosis. What began as a hopeful search for answers ended in a preventable tragedy that left him now a 29-year-old quadriplegic.
At the young age of 9 months old, Jeremy was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Jeremy’s parents spent the next 9 years doing every treatment and appointment that they could, to help Jeremy navigate and manage this diagnosis.
Fast forward, December 24, 2004, Jeremy was rushed to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto due to his lungs collapsing; within 24 hours, doctors confirmed that he did not, nor did he ever have cerebral palsy, instead had been living with a broken neck. This news came as complete shock and disbelief to Jeremy and everyone that knew him!
Having undergone several surgeries trying to repair his neck and spine, Jeremy was left as a quadriplegic, needing a tracheotomy and ventilator to survive. Despite these challenges, those who know Jeremy are inspired by his remarkably positive outlook on life. His infectious positivity brings joy and laughter to everyone he meets.
This misdiagnosis not only took Jeremy’s ability to walk, work, or care for himself but stripped away his independence and dreams of living a normal life hunting and fishing in Northwestern Ontario. Each day poses a new challenge and having to rely on others for even the most basic needs, is truly heart breaking.
We are reaching out to ask for your support. Donations will help cover:
• Replacing the family’s handicap-accessible vehicle
• Medical bills and ongoing therapy
• Supporting accessibility equipment and home modifications
• Funding daily caregiving expenses and essential living costs
Your kindness, generosity and compassion mean the world to Jeremy and his family and can help turn this tragedy into a story of resilience and recovery. Whether it’s a donation, sharing this page with your network, or offering words of encouragement, we are endlessly grateful. Every share increases the chance of reaching someone who can help. Together, we hope to provide a sense of stability and dignity in Jeremy’s life.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
With love and gratitude, Jeremy’s family & friends
