I'm trying to raise money to fight for my son's freedom. He was recently sentenced to a very unequal, harsh prison sentence. His co-defendant whom already had an ongoing criminal charge (with a mandatory 5 years) was only sentenced to 2 years for the same crime and re-sentenced to 1 year for the previous charge. My son, Justus Barfield was sentenced to 20 years and 5 years suspended. This is an example of Mississippi's unequal justice. My son has maintained a job while on bail, has an associate's degree and no previous felony charges. How was he sentenced so harshly. Please help me bring him home, so this young black man will not institutionalized mentally or physically. He did not participate in the actual crime, he is accused of. He was present due to fear. His co-defendant actually participated in the actual crime they are accused of. I will let you all guess what is difference between the defendants is.
