Justice For Kaysera Stops Pretty Places

Donation protected

Kaysera Stops Pretty Places was last seen on August 24, 2019. On August 29, 2019 her body was found in a residential area near a main road in Hardin, Montana-a reservation border town. The family were not properly notified and her death remains under investigation. She just turned 18 years old and would have been a senior in high school.

Kaysera is the 27th missing or murdered Indigenous woman/girl in Bighorn County, Montana.  Montana has one of the highest rates of MMIWG in the country with 134 cases.

The family has been provided limited information about Kaysera’s death from the coroner, county attorney, and investigators.  Her remains were cremated, which is not best practice in an open investigation. No cause of death has been released to the family. Kaysera’s family is pursuing every effort to obtain information and get justice.  The family is offering a $5000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the death of Kaysera Stops Pretty Places.

On September 23, 2019, a march for justice with 300+ people was held in Hardin, MT from the place her body was found to the steps of the Bighorn County Courthouse. A solidarity vigil of 100+ people was also held in Missoula, MT at the same time as it’s a city where Kaysera often visited her father and family. The family extends their deepest appreciation to all those who marched and prayed with us.

Based on other MMIWG cases around the country, we understand that this will likely be a long battle for justice. As a result, Kaysera’s family is raising money to support ongoing rallies for justice at the Bighorn County Courthouse and to fund a private investigator.
