Anti-racism campaigner Kwabena Devonish is facing charges under the Terrorism Act for allegedly “inviting support” for a proscribed organisation during a speech made at a pro-Palestine demonstration in Cardiff in November 2023.
Kwabena is an activist who is committed to campaigning against racism and injustice. In August 2024, she took an active role in organising multi-ethnic and multi-faith unity rallies in Cardiff, helping to bring communities together in solidarity against racist hate and violence by the far-right.
Prosecuting Kwabena won’t make Britain a safer place.
Kwabena is eligible for legal aid but has to contribute to her defence costs. The funds raised will also help cover costs of campaign materials, expenses and travel for Kwabena and campaign supporters. Any money raised beyond what is required for Kwabena’s costs will be held by the Justice for Kwabena campaign and may be used to support similar campaigns against police repression and the criminalisation of protest and solidarity activism.
