Justice for Leticia Martinez-Cosman and her son

Donation protected
Imagine going to see your favorite baseball team play a home game but never making it back home. That’s what happened to our sister, Leticia Martinez-Cosman who has been missing since Friday, March 31, 2023. She and her friend met a man named, Brett Michael Gitchel, at Costco just a few days prior and exchanged phone numbers. Leticia is an avid fan of the Seattle Mariners through and through, so then Leticia invited him to see her favorite team play a home game, it was as if they had something in common. As a single mom of a special needs son, Leticia would at times work two jobs to make ends meet. She is the sole caregiver of her son who requires 24/7 care. When she speaks of him it’s easy to understand her devotion to his well-being and her sense of pride in his accomplishments despite his special needs. It was a rare occasion that Leticia would take time for herself.

On March 31, 2023 the Mariners played against the Guardians to a full stadium. Leticia smiled for a selfie, and she sent the photo to her friend. She always communicated with her friends and family, which is why it was strange that she did not come home that night. Sunday morning her son showed up at the front door of his uncle’s house distressed as he explained the same man kidnapped and assaulted him until he was able to fight his way free. He explained his mother was missing. We have since learned that our loving sister was murdered, this cruel attack is beyond our comprehension. As you can imagine, the details of this story are too traumatic for us to capture in this short post. Leticia is the former owner of Café Rozella in the White Center where she hosted community events in support of cultural diversity, live music, and local AA meetings. She is deeply loved and supported by her family and friends. We are grateful to the Seattle Police Department and detectives for their focus and attention in finding our sister. The outpouring of support from the community has touched our hearts. At this stage, our family is devastated by by the unfathomable loss of Leticia and her son’s traumatic experience. We desperately need your help during this difficult time. We know that Leticia’s love for the Seattle Mariners has touched the hearts of many in our community. We are hoping to gain the attention of the Mariners organization and their players to help spread the word about Leticia’s case.
