On June 11th my disabled 61-year-old father Michael Lynvell Thomas was gunned down by the LA Sheriff Department in the city of Lancaster in his home. He was unarmed. He did not deserve this. My family is broken. We lost a father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, best friend, favorite uncle, family man, pillar of the community, and all-around favorite person. He is survived by his 6 daughters 2 stepchildren 11 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Not yet a year ago he lost his wife and father within a week of each other. Our family has suffered so much in such a short time. We lost our mother as children and now our father has been taken from us. He was a funny and kind man who loved people. He was a giver with a big heart. He is beloved. He was known as "Pops" because he was a father to the community. His impact stretched southern California. He was a man who mattered. He was the most kindhearted person. He dealt with his hurt by healing other of theirs. He gave all his grandkids, nieces, and nephews nicknames that let them know they were special and loved by him. He always saw the best in people and encourage people to be their best in life. Our lives are shattered and we are broken. His girls' are left without a protector. His grandchildren are robbed of his wisdom. His great-grandchildren will never know him. He was a powerful speaker who spoke highly and with volume. He was passionate and compassionate and he wanted the world to change. The night before he was murdered he was watching the George Floyd movement and he began to speak to his neighbors about the sadness he felt for the Floyd family. We are devastated that we lost him the same way. Please help us seek justice and proper home going for our family.
