JUSTICE FOR MIGUEL LOPEZ

On Thursday, January 26th, 2023 at around 5:45 am, Miguel Angel Lopez was murdered by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department in Maywood, CA in his home with his wife, grandson, and great-granddaughter in the home. Miguel Lopez was a loved son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a big heart and held his family at the center of it. He loved inviting his family over to his house to enjoy the delicious carne asada that he would make in his backyard while listening and dancing to oldies from the 60s. In the summers he would always inflate a pool for his grandchildren to play in and he would set up a karaoke machine. He often carried a camera because he loved to take pictures and record his family and the good memories, occasionally bringing out old photos to show his family and reminisce. He was a jokester and loved to laugh and make others laugh too, even if it meant the rough tickles that he would attack his grandkids with. He loved spoiling his grandchildren. He was a family man, a gentleman, and a protector. He would do anything to take care of his family and did. He was an educated man with manners and attended the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. He worked as a city bus driver in Los Angeles County and was a very proud man with strong morals.
The police named him a suspect, but Miguel Lopez was a family man and he was loved and cared for and he did not deserve this. No one should have to die at the hands of the police and no family should have to go through what ours is. We have seen time and time again that this is a pattern in our community. We are not criminals and we do not deserve to die and our families do not deserve to go through the pain of mourning our loved ones taken from us much too soon. We want JUSTICE FOR MIGUEL LOPEZ and that means accountability and prosecuting the killer cops who took our loved one from us.
