Justice for Teen Homicide Victim Matthew Dreaver

Matthew Dreaver was my grandson. He was only 16 years old and died tragically and unnecessarily. He died a horrible death, the victim of a premeditated homicide! Matthew was targetted and run over from behind and left to die on the street like a dog while his killers calmly drove away. Matthew never had a chance! Matthew was loved by all. He was a normal, happy go lucky teen just emerging into his early adolescence. Matthew already was a victim of tragedy when he & his sister, Danielle, lost their father to suicide in 2004.
Despite this sad reality, Matthew, his mother, his sister, and family miraculously were able to pick themselves up and continue on thanks to his grandmothers, uncle, and aunts. They were never deprived of love and affection and all of their needs. Matthew loved his family above all very much. He was a kind, beautiful young man of indigenous ancestry with dreams and ambitions like any other. He was compassionate and always willing to help those in need. He had all of the qualities that make it hard for us to accept and understand how this horrible event could ever have happened to him. It's mind-blowing!
The family is devastated and desperately needs financial support to pay for all their costs and pull them through this unexpected crisis. Matthew's mother, Kelly, worked all her life to contribute while Matthew's grandmother, Diane, Kelly's mother, raised Matthew and his sister, Danielle, with the help of other family members. They are a close and loving family that works as a unit and are very supportive of one another.
Due to a deteriorating muscular condition that Kelly has suffered from for years, Kelly is not able today to contribute in the same way and is forced to be on permanent disability. This is the primary reason why we are asking and hoping for the public's support to offset the costs of Matthew's unexpected funeral. This is a struggling family like any other that has fallen victim to a tragic crime perpetrated against them and their loved ones. An injustice that no one could have predicted! What happened to them could happen to anyone of us! An injustice to one is an injustice to all!
So I humbly ask on behalf of the family that we open our hearts and show compassion and give what we can. We must not forget we are human and together we can do anything. We can be the difference! In hard times, that's what counts and that is who we are!
All monies raised through this gofundme account go directly to Matthew's mother, Kelly Jones, and her family.
