Justice for the Salluit Twins
Donation protected
The Papigatuk family in Salluit is enduring an unimaginable tragedy. Twin brothers Joshua and Garnet were recently involved in a police incident that took Joshua’s life and left Garnet with serious injuries. This devastating event has left their family and community in deep mourning, sparking calls for justice and understanding. During this difficult time, the family must travel to southern Quebec, the only place where specialized medical and mental health services are available to support Garnet’s recovery and provide the family with critical resources for grieving.
Traveling from their northern community brings significant financial burdens. Leaving home for the south means high costs for flights, accommodations, and living expenses, all while dealing with profound emotional distress. They face being separated from their support networks and cultural connections, adding to the weight of their loss. This GoFundMe campaign is being created to ensure that the Papigatuk family has the financial support needed to cover these expenses so they can be close to Garnet and start the journey toward healing.
Your donation will help relieve the heavy burden of these costs, allowing the family to focus on what truly matters: being together, supporting Garnet’s recovery, and honoring Joshua’s memory. Any contribution, large or small, will make a meaningful difference and show the Papigatuk family that they are not alone. In times of such tragedy, your support provides a lifeline, helping them find a path forward amidst overwhelming loss. Thank you for standing with them.
Funds will be used for many differnt reasons. Purchase of air fair for parents & siblings, hotel costs, transportation & Taxi, Food, etc.
The Bureau des Enquêtes Indépendantes (BEI), Quebec’s independent police watchdog, is conducting a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. The BEI’s role is to ensure transparency and accountability, providing answers that the family and community are urgently seeking.
