Justice for Tiger: Family Needs Your Help
Donation protected
My name is Capri Smart (Canoy) and I am trying to raise funds to help our family cover unexpected costs since the tragic and unexpected loss of our son, Tiger Hunter Canoy.
On Sunday, January 19, 2025, 19-year-old Tiger Canoy and his 18-year-old girlfriend, Jillian, went to meet up with a friend from high school. When they got to the Albertsons parking lot, Tiger's friend and two other male teens all got out of their vehicle and ran up to Tiger's 2011 Chevy Camaro. All three suspects had a gun drawn and they proceeded to rob Tiger and his girlfriend of their iPhones and their wallets. Tiger refused to allow them to steal his car. The suspects then slashed Tiger's tire and got into their car, trying to flee the scene. Tiger proceeded to chase them, trying to recover the plate number in the dark. They followed the suspects into the tiny parking lot of a church located next to the Albertsons. Tiger pulled up next to the other vehicle, and the 19-year-old in the passenger seat got out, aimed his gun towards the driver window, and fired two shots before getting back into their SUV and fleeing the scene. The first bullet went straight through the left side of Tiger's head and out the other side, causing Tiger severe head trauma and unconsciousness. The second bullet grazed Jillian's thigh. Unable to call for help because their phones were both stolen earlier in the robbery, Jillian was able to flag down someone to call 911. They were both taken to St. Al's hospital where they were treated for their injuries. On Monday, January 20, 2025, Tiger was pronounced dead from the gunshot wound he suffered to his head. The police were able to find and arrest all three suspects in this murder.
Tiger graduated last May 2024 with a 3.2 GPA. He and Jillian were both just starting out in their young adult lives together. They had so many plans for their futures together. Tiger had such a great personality and he was very protective of both his girlfriend, Jillian, and his Camaro, the two loves of his life.
Tiger was a great, responsible young man and will be missed by many people that care for him.
We will use the funds donated to pay for the final costs of cremation for our son, Tiger Canoy, along with the costs for the celebration of life we are planning for soon. We would also like to use some donations to have our son's car professionally cleaned of our son's blood and to repair the damage done during the robbery and homicide. We are expecting there to be legal fees in order to bring justice for Tiger and Jillian in this murder case. Some of the donations will be used to continue with any attorney fees that will come due until this case comes to a close many months from now. We greatly appreciate any help and support we receive from the community during this long and emotional journey ahead. Thank you for sharing this link with your family and friends in order to spread the word and get justice for Tiger Hunter Canoy.
