Justice for TJ Hickey

Since the Royal Commission into Black Deaths in Custody every month on average there has been another death of an Aboriginal person in custody or during a police operation.
This is a shocking statistic and one we should all be ashamed of.
On 14 February 2004, Valentine's Day, there was another death of an Aboriginal person at the hands of police, my only son TJ Hickey, he was only 17 years old.
My name is Gail Hickey, I was born in Walgett NSW and I want justice for my son.
TJ Hickey was killed while being chased by Redfern police only for the colour of his skin.
NSW Police did not follow the critical incident guidelines while TJ lay dying, they were only ever interested in covering up what happened, not in telling the truth about how he died. It was a whitewash.
The NSW Coroner findings after TJ's inquest found the NSW police involved were not responsible for TJ's death, this is despite the main police officer not giving any evidence in the inquest on the grounds he would have incriminated himself, and despite WorkCover finding that officer had broken the law.
Every year on the day of TJ's death I protest and I will not stop protesting until the NSW Police accept responsibility for the murder of my only son.
I need help with my fight for justice for TJ. His death has had a devastating impact on my family, my daughters lost their only brother, my grandchildren never got to meet their beautiful Uncle, I never got to celebrate my only son turn 18..
Please donate to help show the police that TJ is not just a statistic, he was loved, he did not deserve to die being chased for the colour of his skin.
Funds received from this page will cover my ongoing expenses from our trauma including the costs of his protests, and to help my family and grandchildren with the ongoing necessities of our lives, accomodation, heath care, education and counselling to help us try and heal from our ongoing trauma due to TJ's tragic death and the ongoing police cover up.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported me and my family and all of the other 434 families going through what we have gone through, having lost their love ones while in custody or during police operations.
Stop Black Deaths in Custody.
Stop searching, chasing, arresting Aboriginal people for the colour of our skin.
Keep our Aboriginal children safe within our Aboriginal families.
Justice for TJ Hickey.
