BLACK LIVES MATTER! VAUHXX BOOKER MATTERS!
In Bloomington Indiana, a small county in southern Indiana, home of Indiana University, Vauhxx Rush Booker, a local human rights rights activist was nearly lynched. The irony of him fighting for his life while trying to enjoy, what we call, Independence Day, is such a blatant example of how far we need to come for equal justice.
Vauhxx put up and damn good fight but 5-1 nearly killed him... and reading about his experience first hand (https://www.facebook.com/vauhxx?__tn__=%2CdC-R-R&eid=ARD-epwpckrwtKl2icQpQo0uTPQpXPKqFVA2TTvWHXy1ZEcRCs455seSu3n5WLE2bQ_oV5ekfl9tRpRh&hc_ref=ARQ9lqsUswqXeTqOMVi5H2O9H4r1pKLw-hJio-TKxHAT5Y_CPGjYC3fNDOtbYSMjhyo&fref=nf) it appeared to be the goal of his attackers. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Yql5MmMDjI) . If you think that isn't bad enough, the DNR was the entity that responded to the 911 call and did.............. nothing... per the decision of our local prosecutor's office.
Friends of Vauhxx and racial justice, we need your help. Vauhxx barely makes above the poverty level here in Indiana. Vauhxx had to go to the emergency room, hire an attorney and take a leave of work to try heal, make sense of and "understand" the brutality he underwent because he is black.
His friends need to raise funds for him to:
- Pay medical costs for his emergency room visit... expected cost of a minimum of $5,000.
- Pay for attorney fees which will be, hopefully, mostly pro bono
- Pay for counseling to 'deal' with being assaulted while being black in America
-Pay for loss of work which he incurs as he deals with his concussion and comes to terms with the pain in his body and in his soul.
This is just the beginning. “Everyone is crying out for Peace. I don’t want no Peace. I want Equal Rights and Justice." - Peter Tosh 1978.
While we’re infuriated, it is important to focus on Vauhxx. We must lend any strength and support we can as he faces daily racism, the system, his health (mental and physical), and, of course, the reality of finances as he inevitably misses some work. That is the reason for this fundraiser… medical expenses, time off work, continuing health costs and legal fees both current and expected.
As Vauhxx said upon his release from the ER, "This is a battle, but we need to find lasting change to end the war".
Please donate for #justiceforvauhxx and call Monroe County Prosecutor Erika Oliphant @ [phone redacted] and the office of Department of Natural Resources @ (812) [phone redacted] to demand justice for Vauhxx Rush Booker. He would do it for you.

For those that don't know me, my name is Ashley Cranor and I consider myself a close friend to Vauhxx. I have lived and worked in Bloomington for over 30 years. I currently serve as the Vice-Chair to the Monroe County Health Board and am the Chief Deputy Recorder. I have a masters in public health and have worked for either schools, non-profits, or local government and have served on many community boards during my time here in Bloomington. The intention of this campaign is to raise funds to allow Vauhxx to address he needs as he recovers. Vauhxx will be the sole beneficiary of the funds and the only one with access to them. I wish to thank each and everyone of you that has chipped in.... your love and concern for Vauhxx is beautiful. Peace, love and light to all of you!!!
