Help my Family Rebuild from Devastating Police Misconduct
Hi, my name is Crissy Corbett, and I’m raising funds for my husband, Jeremy, our children, and our family’s future. We’ve been through an incredibly painful journey these past few years due to an unjust arrest and relentless actions by Washington County. This has impacted every part of our lives, from Jeremy’s career to our children's sense of safety.
Our Story In June 2022, Jeremy was wrongfully arrested in a sting operation. His mugshot was released immediately to the public, paired with words implying he had “victims”—words that were completely false but devastating to us all. Washington County even paid to promote this mugshot, causing an irreversible public shame that has haunted us every day since.
Since then, we've faced even more challenges. Evidence crucial to Jeremy’s defense was tampered with, but Washington County denied us access to the unedited phone recordings we needed to prove the truth. This tampering and refusal to release critical evidence has obstructed Jeremy’s right to a fair trial, forcing us into an expensive and heartbreaking legal battle to clear his name.
What We're Fighting For We’re suing Washington County for:
- Defamation: The false language with Jeremy’s mugshot led to lost job opportunities and public shaming.
- Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress: This entire experience has traumatized our family, causing us PTSD, anxiety, and countless sleepless nights.
- Public Records Violations: Washington County refused us access to the unedited evidence that could have made a difference in Jeremy’s defense.
- Civil Rights Violations (42 U.S.C. § 1983): From tampered evidence to judicial misconduct, we’ve been denied the fair trial and basic rights that every person deserves.
Why We Need Your Help This journey has taken a significant financial toll on our family. We’re seeking funds to cover:
- Legal Fees: To continue our fight for justice.
- Therapy: For our children and ourselves as we navigate the trauma of public humiliation and family separation.
- Basic Living Expenses: Jeremy has been unable to secure work due to the public defamation, leaving our family financially vulnerable.
