Justice Through Sadaqah Jariyah: Marcellus Williams’ Legacy
Tax deductible
In honor of Brother Marcellus (Khalifah) Williams and in fulfillment of his final wish, the Washington University Muslim Student Association is honored to support the “Justice Through Sadaqa Jariyah” a fundraising campaign dedicated to providing Islamic aid and support to Muslim prisoners.
Brother Marcellus, unjustly executed by the state, used his final moments to express a powerful last wish: that his brothers in Islam behind bars be remembered and cared for. His request, made in the face of grave injustice, reflects his profound faith and compassion—a legacy we are committed to honoring بإذن الله .
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); a knowledge which is beneficial, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him.” (Muslim). Through this campaign, we aim to fulfill Brother Marcellus’ wish while establishing a Sadaqah Jariyah that will benefit him, and those who support this cause, in the Hereafter.
We are supporting the Islam in Prison, a Division of Al-Furqaan Foundation, to extend support to Muslim prisoners in Marcellus’ prison and others. Our combined efforts will provide:
- Islamic Resources: Books and The Clear Quran® in English and Spanish to nurture spiritual growth.
- Islamic Attire: Kufis and hijabs to uphold Islamic identity.
- Prayer Essentials: Personal and communal prayer rugs.
- Communication Access: Support for email and calls to maintain spiritual connection.
- Ramadan and Eid Support: Dates for fasting and halal meals for Eid celebrations.
- Post-Release Assistance: Transportation, essential shopping, bicycles when available, and ongoing Islamic guidance to support reintegration into the community.
By supporting this campaign, you are directly contributing to Marcellus Williams’ Sadaqah Jariyah, providing invaluable aid and Islamic support to those who are often forgotten. Your contributions will empower incarcerated individuals to uphold their faith, maintain their dignity, and reintegrate into society post-release إن شاء الله
We call upon the community to join us in fulfilling Marcellus Williams’ last wish by donating, raising awareness, and praying for all those wrongfully imprisoned. May Allah accept this Sadaqah Jariyah, forgive Brother Marcellus Williams, and grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus.
May Allah reward all who participate in this noble endeavor. Ameen.
