Justice For Dutchess!!

On the morning of October 20, 2015 as my family was preparing to leave the house to start the day our lives were forever changed by the callous and cowardly actions of a Florida City police officer.
This "officer" came to my home with seemingly good intentions of warning us of an opened car door. He knocked on the front door and when I opened it slightly our young pup Dutchess stuck her nose out to see who was there and she tried to go out to greet him. Within seconds of her exiting the doorway she was met with not one but three bullets to her head. He did not try to wound her. He made certain that our girl would not survive his attack. He shot her dead on her own front door step right in front of us.
He did not give us an opportunity to try to get her back in the house safely and without incident. He reacted out of fear and cowardice and not only murdered our family member in cold blood, but also put the rest of my family members present (my 18 year old daughter and 8 year old son) in danger as he was firing his weapon only three feet from where we were standing.
We cannot tolerate this kind of behavior from a public servant who is supposed to protect and server our community. With the assistance of the Miami Coalition Against Breed Specific Legislation (MCABSL) we have retained legal counsel to pursue legal action against the Florida City Police Department. We will be demanding changes in police training and procedure so that this will not happen again. We are raising funds to cover the cost of the legal expenses that will be incurred.
We are also currently in the process of forming a non-profit bully rescue to honor Dutchess's life. If there are funds raised in excess of what is necessary for the case those funds will be put toward improving the lives of animals in South Florida area through this new organization: Dutchess's Bully Rescue, Inc.
