The Justin Cowan Memorial Fund
Donation protected
On behalf of Kimberly Cowan, we, her friends and family, have set up this memorial to honor the life and legacy of Justin Cowan. This past Tuesday evening at 6 pm, Justin passed from this life into the next.
Justin had not been feeling well the previous week and was seeking treatment from his physician. Around 4 o’clock in the afternoon, he began to have trouble breathing. Kimberly called an ambulance, and Justin was rushed to the hospital for what the EMTs originally believed to be a panic attack. However, upon arrival in the ER, Justin went into severe cardiac arrest. The doctors attempted to resuscitate him for 45 minutes, but were unable to bring him back. Justin had a rare genetic condition that may or may not have contributed - but at this point, we simply do not know.
As you may imagine, Kim and all of Justin’s family and friends are shocked by his passing. Justin was scheduled to meet with his doctor Wednesday morning for another examination. He did not know why he was feeling ill, and we do not yet know what specific health issues caused his cardiac arrest. An autopsy has been ordered to help offer an explanation as to why this tragic event occurred.
Justin’s life meant so much to so many. His loss is felt deeply, and there is no way to begin to describe how he will be missed by us all.
The heartache and anguish Kim is going through is unimaginable. Friends and family are with her now around the clock, and we very much appreciate your prayers. The outpouring of love from around the world has been overwhelming. Thank you!
Many of you are asking where to send condolences and how to support Kim in her time of grieving, which is why we have set up this site. We intend to use this page as a message board where you can write notes for Kim to read when she is able, and also as a way to give financially. The funds raised here will help cover the costs related to: the immediate medical costs, Justin’s memorial service and burial, flying in and accommodating friends and family who cannot otherwise afford to be present, and any and all needs Kim may have now and in the coming months.
Please check back for information on the scheduling of services and events to celebrate Justin’s life. Plans are expected to take a little more time, and updates will be posted here as soon as they are available.
Words cannot express Kim, Maureen, Jeff, and Jon's gratitude to you all for loving Justin so deeply and supporting them through this time.
Thank you.
