Justin Crane and Family Need Help

I first met Justin in 1991 and we absolutely connected, but then he joined the Army. We have kept in touch from time to time over the years. Just a few months ago, we reconnected on social media again. They say timing is everything - something just clicked this time. Things moved insanely fast. Justin came to Oklahoma to visit me and we quickly decided that I was moving to Florida to be with him and his son, Alex.

Six weeks ago, Justin came home from taking Alex to school and was drenched in sweat. He felt like he was having a heart attack and his right leg was going numb. I called 911 and a team of diligent firefighters and paramedics arrived within minutes. Thank God Jupiter Medical Center is 2 miles away and the amazing Dr. Patel was on site - fresh out of another surgery. Little did he know he would be in surgery for another 9 excruciating hours. By noon, Justin had been prepped and was heading into emergency open heart surgery to replace the aorta valve. He had an aorta dissection (torn from the heart all the way down his leg.) We were told that most patients don’t make it to the hospital. There was no blood flow to his right leg and part of his kidneys during this time. His kidneys completely shut down. He was intubated for 10 long days. We didn’t know if he was going to make it or the extent of the damage to his organs. I had only been in Florida for a couple of months and didn’t know anyone. Justin’s immediate family and my wonderful bestie, Gina, rushed to be with me and Alex.

Justin miraculously came out of sedation just as there were talks about the next steps. Soon after waking, he ripped out the feeding tube and was sitting in a chair within 24 hours. He is the toughest guy I've ever met. The staff at Jupiter Medical calls him "The Miracle Man.” They have been the most caring, friendly, and knowledgeable – we will be forever grateful. Justin is walking again, although he tires easily. His kidney function is back to 100% - AMEN!!! His voice is still coming back, he has lost 30 lbs, and he has recurring headaches. We thank God every day that he is alive and we will continue to count our blessings as he recovers over the next 3-6 months. We don’t know when he can return to work. I was having a hard time finding a job, but I am finally getting some interviews. Luckily, I was available to be the caretaker but I have to get back to work. We are behind on our bills and rent. We just weren't financially prepared for this.

Justin has a new lease on life. I now know why I uprooted my life and left the security of my home, my family, and my friends to be with this man. God had to break us both down in order for us to be the best life partners we can be for each other. If I had not been here when this happened, he would not be here today. This has been a very humbling experience for both of us. It pains me to ask for help, but I have no choice at this point. Any donations would be very much appreciated as we try to get back on track. We thank you for your love and support.

Sincerely,
Angela & Justin
