Justin Halstead and his mother's tragic death

Dear friends, family, and compassionate individuals,

We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts to share the devastating news of the tragic loss that Justin Halstead and his family have endured. On September 29th, Justin's mother, who was working on the Island of Jamaica, was tragically shot in the head at gunpoint and killed on the spot. This senseless act of violence has left Justin and his family in deep grief and shock.

Justin migrated from Jamaica to the United States just a year ago, seeking safety and a better future away from the dangers of the streets in Spanish Town, Jamaica. Justin's mother's wish was to get him away from the dangerous streets in Jamaica and her wish was granted a year ago when he migrated to the United States and was given the opportunity to pursue a better education and life in America.

Unfortunately, fate had a different plan, and Justin's mother became a victim of the very streets she was trying to escape. This tragedy has left Justin and his family devastated, not only emotionally but also financially.

Justin is a potential basketball player for legendary Coach Ron NaClerio of Cardozo High School. It hit home for NaClerio as several of his players parents were shot and killed and suffered way too much tragedy from gun violence.

We are coming together as a community to support Justin during this incredibly challenging time. Our goal is to raise funds to help Justin fly to Jamaica to bury his beloved mother and provide him with the necessary support for his immediate needs, including food, clothing, and other essentials. Justin's mother worked at a craft market in Jamaica and used the little money that she made to send Justin money every month. The financial support is no longer there and it has affected Justin tremendously. We aim to ensure that Justin can continue his education in the United States without the added burden of financial stress, including his college tuition and expenses.

All funds raised through this GoFundMe campaign will go directly towards Justin's travel expenses to Jamaica, funeral arrangements, immediate needs, and ongoing support for his education and well-being. We understand that times are tough for many, but any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Justin's life.
