Help Justin after losing his leg in accident
Donation protected
On October 07, 2023, Justin Curran thought he was just going for an evening motorcycle ride to the town over to grab dinner with his buddy. Sadly, things would turn from joyful to tragic in the blink of an eye and both men would not be returning home. On the way back that night, a wrong-way driver crossed over the center line and struck Justin, his friend Lou, and a highway patrol officer. Lou and the wrong-way driver were killed in the accident.
Justin had life-threatening injuries and his left leg was amputated above the knee. His left arm was also badly injured. He has had multiple surgeries on his arm already and still has more to go as he and the doctors fight to save it. It will take some time before he knows for sure if he gets to keep his arm as it is still very early on in the recovery process. Justin has been told that if he does get to keep his arm, he will likely have limited use of it as a lot of the muscle has had to be removed in the forearm. Justin was initially put on a ventilator and had trauma to several of his vital organs. He has fought every day and has gotten better against all odds. He has recently been able to stand up and is amazing hospital staff daily with his strength and determination. Justin is beyond grateful to be alive and refuses to give up this second chance at life he was given despite whatever obstacles he may be facing ahead.
He will be on a long road to recovery and is not only dealing with the loss of his leg but also the loss of his close friend, Lou. Justin needs a team of people working with him closely on this trauma to help him begin to heal physically and mentally. Justin will soon be fit for a prosthetic which is exciting but also worrisome as prosthetics are very costly and usually not fully covered by insurance. He is also needing to make some modifications to his living environment for when it is time for him to go home such as installing a ramp and helping bars. Currently, he is experiencing extreme muscle and nerve pain along with spasms and phantom pains due to the amputation, that require massage and compression for any sort of relief. This is not being provided by physical therapy or insurance at this time. We would like to find him a massage therapist who can meet with him on at least a weekly basis to begin relieving some of the immediate pains he is experiencing. Additionally, the hospital is 115 miles one way from where he and his family live and this has already begun to put a strain on things financially due to him not working and his ex-wife missing work to visit him. Once Justin is released from the hospital, he will be required to travel similar or further distances to see his doctors as he lives in a rural community and specialists are limited. Justin’s family is humbly asking on his behalf for anything you may be able to contribute toward these things to help get him on a path to recovery.
If you don’t already know Justin, you should. He is the guy that has one of those smiles that makes other people smile even if they don't know why. He is always ready to help out a friend in need. Justin is an ambitious, active, and stubborn guy who loves his kids, the outdoors, and trying new things. Fishing is his passion, he was most recently working on a fishing boat where he caught the biggest fish of his life. He enjoys spending time in nature mushroom hunting or collecting rocks. Justin loves music, the beach, and being around good people. Justin has a love for animals and has put together a small family farm over the years with his kids that raises turkeys, sheep, and goats to name a few. He recently had began hunting with his son. He enjoys nothing more than taking his daughter and son out for some back-country exploring and seeing the beautiful sights his home state has to offer. Despite his injuries, Justin is determined to still do all of these things and more but he will need your help. If you are able to ease any financial burden for him during these difficult times, please consider contributing to Justin.
We know times are tough for many and it is not easy to ask as we know it is not easy for many to give. Please if what you have to give him is your healing prayers, wishes, thoughts, and supoort, he needs all that he can get. Justin has already shown the power of the mind when faced with difficulties and how it can get us through anything.
Thank you.
