Justin's heart and lung transplant.

Hello, my name is Tonya Rushing, and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. My husband, Justin Rushing, was born with a rare heart condition called Dextrocardia. Which to put into easy terms is that his heart is on the wrong side of his chest and facing backwards. He has recently run into some major health issues and is in need of a heart and lung transplant. The closest heart/lung transplant services are located in Salt Lake City, UT.

Anyone who knows Justin, knows he is a very spirited, strong-willed individual with such an enjoyment for life. He loves doing anything outdoors, including fishing, camping, hiking and especially hunting. He has never come across a person he won't befriend. Despite his struggles he is continuing to work. However work is getting more difficult each day as his heart is having to work harder to pump.

Any money donated will be used to help with travel expenses, bills, and medications. I will be with Justin while he is in surgery and through the critical period. It will be necessary for me to be there for 6-8 weeks after the surgery as his caretaker during the recovery period. Once that recovery period is done Justin will have to stay in Salt Lake City, UT for at least 3-6 months for more testing before he will be able to come back to Gillette. We will be using all of what our jobs give for any compensation, however it will not be enough to help us through this tough time. We are praying for a good outcome with this surgery and have come to the realization that we cannot do everything alone. We need help.
