Actiontrack Wheelchair for Justin
Donation protected
Hi my names Justin,
I have been a C6 incomplete quadriplegic since August 26th, 2012. I was sitting in a parked car in Tobago when a drunk driver ran off the road at about 80 miles an hour and slammed into the car that I was sitting in. The impact broke C4, C5, C6, C7 and T1 and T3. I had an emergency surgery in a private hospital in Trinidad... which I'm thankful they saved my life long enough to get home to Atlanta Georgia by jet ICU and accepted in the Piedmont neuro-icu. They found three more breaks so they opened me back up a couple days later and did a posterior C3 to T4 fusion with 12 screws and 2 six-inch rods. I constantly do physical therapy and stay up-to-date with the fantastic technologies on the horizon. I really just want to get back out into nature even if it's in a wheelchair. I moved back into my parents after the accident. They live out in the country south of Atlanta about 45 minutes, I roll up and down the driveway but don't ever get to go off road. Needless to say ti-lite chairs are not made for the woods or grass.
Before I got hurt I couldn't even remember the last time I sat down in front of the television for more than 30 minutes. I was very active and used to hunt a lot and go camping all the time and more than anything go to the beach and go diving and/or go fishing off the beach. Things I have not been able to do since my injury due to accessibility reasons and the cost of everything that is designed for the disabled is so expensive. If my accident would've happened in the United States that would've been taking care of, but since it happened in Tobago they basically told the guy to go home and sober up and that was all that ever happened to him.
I'm starting this campaign to help raise the rest of the funds that I need for an Actiontrack Stander off road wheelchair to get back out into the nature aspect of life.
I have raised $3000 but still need an additional 14K, yay :) . All donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
