The past few weeks has brought our family head-first into a battle no one wants to face. After several weeks with an unexplained lump, a quickly scheduled surgery, and the long and dreadful wait on pathology, we discovered that Justin has Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), an aggressive cancer that is going to require an enormous amount of strength and courage for all of us to face.
This terrible journey began at Lexington Clinic, and along with the University of Kentucky’s Children’s Oncology team, they lovingly gave us the terrible news, completed some initial scans and helped pick us up for a move to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, which is appropriate because although Justin is an adult at 21, this cancer is in a class of pediatric cancers.
We have received such an outpouring of love and support from our friends and family, but here is how you can really help. This fight will not only be long and hard, but expensive.
We will use your loving support to help pay for medicine, chemo, hotels, food, surgery, co-pays, and all sorts of expenses that we haven't considered yet.
$10 can help buy lunch for Robyn and Joel while they wait for Justin during treatment.
$25 can help pay for gas for a round trip from Columbus to Cincy.
$100 can help offset a night in a hotel for Robyn and Joel.
Larger gifts will help us with treatment costs.
Justin's future radiation treatments may not be covered by insurance. Every dollar you give will help us prepare for this potential large, life-saving expense.
Another way you can help is to share this campaign with friends, family, strangers, etc.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your gift.
Any funds raised here that don't get used will be donated to a charitable organization that works with RMS.
