Help Nicholas overcome financial and health challenges

Who I Am
My name is Nicholas J. Kunc. I am a 36-year-old male living in McPherson, KS. I am a computer enthusiast, volunteer computer worker, and aspiring author and game developer. I am a Futurist, and constantly seeking knowledge. I live with my two tuxedo cats, Loki and Artemis. Despite my interests and ambitions, I am currently facing severe financial and health challenges that I cannot overcome alone.

My Situation
I am currently struggling to pay rent, property taxes, and car tags and utilities. My financial difficulties stem from a combination of chronic health issues and a mental breakdown in January and before I was able to return to work, an unknown Urinary Trac medical event occurred that crippled me for 2 weeks of severe pain, urgency, difficulty that has now become chronic that forced me to resign from my job. Here's a breakdown of my situation:

Property Taxes: Need to be paid by July or else I will not be able to get my Car tags.
Rent and Utilities: I'm behind on rent and utilities, with my gas already shut off.
Car Tags and Insurance: I cannot renew my car tags without paying property taxes, and I lost my car insurance due to financial constraints. This will be due at the end of July.

My Health Challenges
I suffer from several chronic health issues, including:

Mental Health: Diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Major Depressive Disorder. Possible ADHD/OCD. Also looking into Semantic Symptom Disorder as well when we can get around to it. I am very much an introvert, and my social anxiety causes physical ailments regardless if its by phone or in person.

Physical Health: Chronic sometimes severe fatigue, chronic sleep paralysis, a current chronic urinary tract issue, and an undiagnosed nerve neuropathy in my left shoulder, undiagnosed breathing disorder since I was a kid. I get constantly get benign pains (some that mimic heart attack, but heart is perfectly fine), and constantly in some kind of discomfort.

January 2023 Mental Breakdown:
A severe mental breakdown due to work stress regarding my sleep disorder and the stress from being put on probation for it. As well as being the only employee at the time, so I was being overburdened. The Ambien wasn't helping but sometime in January I somehow accidental overdosed of Ambien that caused me to lose an entire day. Basically I took my Ambien on a Friday as normal, and woke up on Sunday with all 40 pills gone. The withdrawals and effects from that is what drove me over the edge mentally.

The Urinary Trac Issue:
This began in July, after battling paperwork to get back to work, it took over 5 months before I was cleared to come back. 2 weeks before the day I was to return to work, I was hit with a sudden severe piercing pain in a single spot in my Urinary Trac system, severe urgency, and later difficulty emptying the bladder. All about 7 to 8 out of 10 for pain/discomfort. I had no insurance, no paycheck at that time so I attempted to just make it to my return day, that way I would get my insurance back. But after being misdiagnosed 2 to 3 times, and not given any pain relievers or anything but what I had been taking (AZO for 1.5 weeks which is dangerous, and causes false positives of UTI on initial screening at the ER and Doctors office. Later testing revealed no UTI, and its become chronic (just the urgency and difficulty.) To kind of explain it a bit better, it feels like I have been holding my bladder for the past 10 months, only getting a few days up to a week of very little to no symptoms, but also can flare up to moderate/severe randomly. The mental stress from that is severely limiting my capacity to do things that need to be done quickly, but simply cannot or takes a long time for me to do.

These health issues make it difficult for me to perform everyday tasks and seek help. Social anxiety severely limits my ability to make phone calls or attend appointments, and the chronic urinary tract issue has become mentally and physically debilitating over the past 11 months since it started. As well I am notoriously just really bad at asking for help in general even when I clearly need it.

Why I Need Your Help
I am humbly asking for donations to cover my immediate financial needs and help me get the medical attention I require. Here are my immediate financial goals:

  • Rent (3 months): $1,050
  • Electricity (3 months): $1,000
  • Gas (3 months): $300
  • Internet (3 months): $200
  • Car Insurance (3 months): $150
  • Property Taxes and Car Tags: $450
  • Medical Debt for ADHD Testing: $2,510
  • Vet Bills for Artemis: $200
  • Total Goal: $5,860

As well, my cats have been very important to me and helped me a lot. However Artemis the stray I took in is still heavily attached to me, so if I had to move back in with my family temporarily I may have to let her go to hopefully find a new home. But it would be a huge blow to me, as I have come quite attached to her and her unique behavior and it would be very hard for me to lose her especially during all of this.

My Future Plans
Despite these challenges, I have plans and goals for the future:

  • 3D Printing and Computer Product Development: I am developing a new computer product and have invested in a 3D printer.

  • Learning GDscript , C#, and using Unity/Godot Engine: For a video game I am attempting to develop and story for another one.

  • Non-Profit Organization: I am heavily invested into volunteer computing. My initial reasoning was because I have a lot of older computers and servers that if I can't do anything but barely take care of myself and making sure to always take care of my two cats, this was something I could do to contribute something. It has become a hobby now of mine, and I believe that spreading the word about volunteer computing and possible creation of an NPO that can help locally and globally for volunteer computing. The research needing to be done is crucial and being a guide post to how anyone with a computer or phone can contribute. More people means that computations and research is done faster possibly leading to new discoveries in all fields especially medical field.

  • Work-from-Home Job: I am seeking a work-from-home job that aligns with my skills and interests.

What I am currently looking into financially:
I am looking into applying for food assistance and LIEP, but scheduling problems with phone interviews has slowed me down. Trying to reach out to local organizations that may be able to help with finances. I haven't applied for Unemployment since resigning in good faith mainly because I am not fit to do really any work reliably or safely until the Urinary Trac issue gets remedied or lessened. As such I do not want to fill out applications that I know I will not be able to accept a job for my safety and others. And it doesn't feel right to do so, I am very apposed to lying on anything that may effect anyone else but me. That is why I haven't seeked Unemployment. I am also in the works to possibly start the paperwork for SSDI (Social Security Disability Insurance) depending on my diagnosis and discoveries after tests.

How You Can Help
Any donation, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go directly toward covering my immediate needs and medical expenses. If you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with others would also be a huge help. Additionally, if you have experience navigating financial aid programs or know of resources that could assist me, I would be grateful for your guidance. Preferably via email which you can get from my website or social platforms.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Your support means the world to me and could help me get back on my feet and work towards a stable and fulfilling future.
