The Ride of my Life

Hi, my name is Laurie and I am raising funds to support my journey on an epic horse adventure race that I have been accepted into - The Gaucho Derby. This is a 500 km, 8 day horse adventure race in the Andes mountains of Patagonia, Argentina. It will take place in February 2024. I am one of 40 riders accepted into this ride of a lifetime and am beyond thrilled.

I have signed on for this daring challenge as I feel life is meant to be lived at the highest levels. I firmly believe that stepping out of our comfort zones produces the growth and personal development that contributes to us showing up in the highest version of ourselves. It is from this point that we are then able to truly help others, to serve others to seek their best selves. We are here on Earth for such a brief speck of time so why not make is legendary?

I am planning on donating 15% of the funds received to equine therapy establishments that support emotional healing for US military veterans and others with PTSD and emotional trauma. Horses have been part of my healing journey since I was 5 years old and I am forever grateful for these magical and majestic beasts. I will also use the funds raised towards the race fee, equipment and training needed to prepare my mind and body for this breathtaking equine crusade.

I have connected with a couple different organizations who connect Veterans with horses to provide incredible healing platforms for our warriors to heal. Horses are able to sense our emotions and provide a unique and profound space to feel whole again. This therapy allows our soldiers and others with severe trauma to return to their families, their lives and themselves.
