Hope for Rosie

One April 13th my sister and brother in-law’s dog Rosie woke up and lost the ability to use her back legs. After being tested for Lyme, and blood work to see if there was any abnormalities, she was negative for all blood tests.
After going back and fourth of how this could have happened, the only possibility would be from jumping off a higher bed then she’s used too. The emerg vet told us, that sometimes it can take 24-48 hours for an injury to show. They suspect an injury to intervertebral disc.
The vet recommended we take her home and monitor her for a week while giving her medication, and if no improvement is shown within the week, the next step is a cat scan and surgery, as worsening of the injury can lead to total loss of function which can lead to permanent paralysis.
The vet gave them the option to put her down if surgery is not a financial possibility.
Rosie is only 4 years young and we know in our hearts she has so much life left to live, so many more trails to walk, dogs to sniff, and treats to sneak. Their kids adore their Rosie posie and we couldn’t imagine not fighting for her. But of course the financial aspect while Beth is on maternity leave is something they’re unsure is feasible. The vet suggested we are most likely leading down the road of needing surgery and said the cost could be anywhere between $5,000-$30,000. If that route is not taken, she will need expensive treatments/ medications that may be long term.
If anyone can help by sharing or donating to help get Rosie the medical care she deserves, our family would be ever so grateful.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.❤️
